Josh Gordon Suspended One Day Before Game Against Baltimore Ravens; Cleveland Browns Promoted Phil Bates To Take Wide Receiver Spot

Josh Gordon suspended due to a violation of team rules that has remain unspecified. The Cleveland Browns have decided to suspend their wide receiver a day before their season finale against the Baltimore Ravens.

The Browns had already made an official announcement regarding Josh Gordon suspended in a release that was provided last Saturday. In Gordon's place, fellow wide receiver Phil Bates was promoted from the practice squad so he could replace him on the active roster.

According to the team's statements, Bates was not even included in the trip heading to Baltimore. This only means that he will not be able to play on Sunday's game.

Both Josh Gordon suspended and rookie quarterback Johnny Manziel were not present at the walk through that was held on Saturday morning. The team reportedly had a hard time trying to locate the two, according to the tipster who told Pat McManamon of ESPN.

Apart from this unexplained absence, Josh Gordon suspended was also late arriving on the practice field last Friday. He later emerged from the outdoor workout facility of the team wearing the jersey of fellow team mate Travis Benjamin.

Although both Gordon and Manziel were missing at the walk through, the Browns never said anything about the latter athlete in their release. Plus, Manziel was also one of the players who made the trip to Baltimore with the rest of the team, according to the information given to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. It was later found out that Manziel was at his Cleveland residence.

He was fined for his tardiness. This punishment of his comes only days after he previously acknowledged that he will be taking his job as an NFL quarterback more seriously.

Other players, who were also in injured reserve, were still diligent enough to attend the walk through. Miles Austin never missed a single walk through even after he was declared out for the season because of a lacerated kidney.

Sadly for Manziel, however, although he did make it to Baltimore, he was placed on injured reserve after he suffered from a hamstring injury during their losing game against Carolina last week.
