January Jones of "Mad Men" has reportedly been selected to be part of a new futuristic TV comedy entitled "The Last Man on Earth." Other than that, the show runners have opted to keep mum about the upcoming show.
According to multiple online reports, January Jones will be portraying a "strong independent" character named Melissa. She will be joining Kristen Schaal of "The Daily Show" as Carol, Cleopatra Coleman of "Step Up Revolution" as Erica, and Mel Rodriguez of "Community" as Todd.
This half-hour series, which runs only on a single camera, follows the life of Phil Miller, played by Will Forte of "Saturday Night Live." He attempts to search America in 2022 for other signs of human life after an unknown event ends up wiping out the entire population on the planet. Those who are excited about the show have started to speculate that most of the actors might appear in flash backs.
It was also Forte who created and wrote this upcoming future-based TV show. The pilot episode will be directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller of "Lego Movie" and "21 Jump Street."
In addition to the "Last Man on Earth," January Jones will also be returning to "Mad Men" to reprise her role as Betty Draper. She has decided to make a comeback to the highly watched show for its remaining seven episodes, which have been scheduled to air next year.
Jones started out in the showbiz industry with only supporting roles in various movies, such as "Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights, "Love, Actually," and "Anger Management." She also landed the love interest role of Steve Stifler and Paul Finch in "American Wedding."
It would certainly appear that January Jones has her hands for the past several years. She had actually hosted "Saturday Night Live" back in 2009. Forte was a cast member at the time. Sadly for her, though, her performance in the internationally famous comedy show was met with tons of negative reviews. Many believe that she was received negatively because she kicked off her first sketch by audibly asking, "Which camera?"
