Harry Potter actor David Ryall has died at the age of 79. He was known for his portrayal of Elphias Doge in the internationally famous Harry Potter franchise.
Sadly, he passed away on Christmas Day. However, other than when he died, no other details regarding his death were provided.
The former "Harry Potter" star had a highly impressive career in the movie making industry for five decades. Apart from film, he also participated in other forms of media, such as theater and television.
He was featured in the movie "The Elephant Man" in the 1980s, "Truly, Madly, Deeply" in the 1990s and "Around the World in 80 Days" in 2004. On TV, he was part of "The Village" and "Outnumbered" and various famous shows, such as "Holby City", "Goodnight Sweetheart", "Casualty", "The Singing Detective", "Midsomer Murders", and Andrew Davies's version of "House of Cards."
Ryall's daughter, Charlie Ryall, stated, "Please take a moment to remember his huge five-decade spanning career outside of the more well-known TV and film."
Moreover, Sherlock writer, Mark Gatiss, took to Twitter to give his condolences for the beloved "Harry Potter" actor who recently passed away. He called the late Ryall "a twinkling, brilliant, wonderful actor I was privileged to call a friend. RIP."
Gatiss got the chance to work with Ryall in a TV movie that was entitled "The Tractate Middoth" just last year.
However, it was his participation in the "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1" in 2010 that made him even much more recognized to the public.
Ryall replaced Peter Cartwright as Elphias Doge, who was a very close friend of Albus Dumbledore. Apart from being closely tied with one of the franchise's main characters, Doge was also the jurist of the Ministry of Magic and a member of the Order of the Phoenix.
