Dustin Diamond Arrested - The "Saved by the Bell" star, mostly known for his character as Screech Powers from the hit 1990's show, was arrested Thursday for allegedly stabbing a man with a knife during a fight at a Wisconsin bar, the Ozaukee County Sheriff's Department said.
The 37-year-old actor was found in possession of a switchblade. Dustin Diamond was arrested for second-degree recklessly endangering safety, carrying a concealed weapon and disorderly conduct, police said.
After Dustin Diamond was arrested, he appeared in court Friday. A judge set his bail at $10,000, according to court records. If convicted for the recklessly endangering safety charge, he could end locked up to 10 years in jail.
Officers had Dustin Diamond arrested after responding to an 11:15 p.m. call on Thursday at a local bar, the Grand Avenue Saloon in Port Washington. The call reported of a 37-year-old man "had stabbed another male patron and left the bar," said police.
Police added that before they had Dustin Diamond arrested, he and his fiancée tried to flee via a white sport-utility vehicle. Diamond and his fiancée, Amanda Schultz, were later taken into custody.
According to police, they found a folding knife with a 3.75-inch blade inside the vehicle after they had Dustin Diamond arrested. The knife appeared to have blood on it, according to NBC News.
Meanwhile, police said they also spoke with witnesses, the victim and a bartender at the Saloon after they had Dustin Diamond arrested.
Police reportedly saw a "significant amount of blood" under the victim's armpit after the stabbing.
Though the victim suffered a stab wound to his right armpit, police said it wasn't life threatening. On Friday, police said the victim is recovering at home.
With Dustin Diamond arrested, the actor defended himself by saying "there was a group of intoxicated people being rude and insulting."
He said his girlfriend had an altercation with another woman, after which he saw her bleeding and intervened. He said that the stabbing was unintentional. However, "chaos broke out and people were grabbing at him," added the DA's report.
Before police had Dustin Diamond arrested, Diamond also initially told the police he had a "pen" in his hand. According to the criminal complaint, he later admitted that it was a knife.
The complaint also said that other witnesses have told police the fight occurred after Diamond's fiancée got upset when people started taking pictures.
Authorities said that as of the current moment, Diamond has not entered a plea yet, reports ABC News.
Roger Paul, Diamond's agent, declined to comment about Dustin Diamond arrested. He said he wasn't familiar with the details of the case.
A person at the Grand Avenue Saloon said Diamond is not a regular at the bar. Schultz, also 27, was meanwhile charged with disorderly conduct.
On Monday, the Associated Press reports that Diamond is due back in court. His bail is set at $10,000.
According to the Washington Post, Diamond was in Wisconsin since he moved to Port Washington, north of Milwaukee, in the early 2000s after gaining Hollywood success. However, in 2006, he faced foreclosure and began selling T-shirts to raise money to save his house.
With Dustin Diamond arrested, the incident reportedly caps off a strange year for the '90s comedy star. He had a brief resurgence in the fall after Lifetime aired "The Unauthorized Saved By the Bell Story," based on his book about filming the show.
