Florida cop shooting - Investigators have caught the 23-year old suspect, Marco Antonio Parilla Jr., after he had shot and run over an officer. The officer has been identified as Charles "Charlie K" Kondek. Kondek had responded to a call about a noise complaint at 2 in the morning only to be shot and run over by Parilla.
The Florida cop shooting took place Sunday morning. In the hopes of avoiding arrest, Parilla Jr. had shot Kondek multiple times, one bullet striking him above the bullet-proof vest rendering him dead. Not satisfied with shooting the cop dead, Parilla Jr. had run him over.
"We know we have the right guy in custody," says Sheriff Bob Gualtieri of Pinellas County in a report by USA Today. "This guy knew what he was doing, he killed a cop and he needs to be held accountable for that."
Parilla is not only arrested for the Florida cop shooting but for a noise complaint as well. He was earlier spotted by Kondek, banging on the door of a neighbour, with another unidentified woman in his car where loud music was being played.
The Florida cop shooting involving Parilla Jr. isn't his only case. According to records from the Florida Department of Corrections, the suspect had served two years as well in prison for numerous offenses of which include drug charges. He violated his probation thus marking him as a fugitive.
After the Florida cop shooting that took the life of Kondek, Parilla had asked forgiveness from the cop's family. The suspect claims to have felt like a "caged rat" as soon as he spotted the cop. In desperate attempts not to head back to prison, Parilla open fired on Kondek.
"I apologize to the family" says Parilla, the suspect in the Florida cop shooting, adding, "That was not my intention."
