Free Shipping Day Joined By 1,000 Retailers: Free Shipping, 50% Discount And Other Promos Account For $1 Billion Sales

Today is Free Shipping Day and as expected many people joined the celebration by taking advantage of the free shipping offer of over 1,000 retailers nationwide.

According to Washington's Top News, Free Shipping Day has already exceeded the $1 billion mark of items sold with the promise of delivering them on-time for Christmas.

Over the past two years, many people have taken advantage of this special day that the sales of retailers joining the revolution have grown exponentially.

What's good about this Dec. 18 celebration is the fact that not only do retailers free shipping for their products but they also offer discounts of up to 50%.

The main benefit one could get from Free Shipping Day is the fact that he or she doesn't need to pay for delivery expenses anymore.

That said, buyers can buy gifts to their loved ones without really minding that they need to put extra cash to it to pay for the shipping cost.

One survey has found that consumers tend to spend more when they are entitled to enjoy free delivery for their items.

It is not surprising that Time compares Free Shipping Day to Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Unlike the other two however, the former is the absolute motivator of shopping madness.

For today, numerous retailers have partnered to ensure that customers will not be charged for getting their purchases delivered at their doorstep.

So what are the retailers that joined today's shopping extravaganza?

Business Insider has listed some of the best retailers to buy from this day, including Bergdorf Goodman, H&M, Shinola Watches, Piperlime, Nike, Cabelas and Target.

Other participating retailers of the Free Shipping Day are L.L. Bean, Sports Authority, REI, Nordstrom and Land's End, among others.
