Craig Wayne Boyd father was crowned as the winner of the seventh season of NBC's "The Voice" on Tuesday. Despite having won the internationally watched singing competition only days ago, he is already planning on his next big move.
Craig Wayne Boyd father, 35 years old, who was actually the fourth contestant coached by Blake Shelton to take home the trophy, now has plans of starting a tour of his own. He is hopeful that he will be able to play at least 250 dates next year.
Boyd told ET, "Blake's best advice to me was to continue to be myself. Don't let people change me and stick to my guns as to who I am as a person."
His son Jaxon, two years old, is one of the most important people in the country singer's life. Although his win kicks off his career in the music industry, according to him, winning "The Voice" might actually be even more beneficial for his son in the long run.
"It changes my life as a father in the fact that I'll be able to provide for him much better than I have in the past," Craig Wayne Boyd father shared.
Apart from opening more doors for his son, his recent victory has also helped him in ways that he could not have imagined. He shared, "To me, one of the coolest things that have happened is to hear the folks who say, 'I don't like country music' or 'I don't listen to country music, but I love what you do.'"
Winning the seventh season of "The Voice" has given Craig Wayne Boyd father a recording contract with Universal Music Group, as well as a check for $100,000.
Moreover, even if runners-up, Matt McAndrew, Chris Jamison, and Damien Lawson, who all happen to come from Team Adam Levine, did not go home empty-handed.
Shelton shared to ET, "I think everybody in the finale walks away with a big opportunity and fan base and a chance to make a record for sure. Winning the thing just gives you that extra level of coverage, and it's important."
