The actors from "The Interview" have taken a precaution after Sony hackers targeted theaters showing the film.
"The Interview" stars Seth Rogen and James Franco have cancelled their media appearances after the alleged Sony hackers threatened attacks on theaters showing their film, according to BuzzFeed.
The duo has been scheduled to appear Tuesday on "BuzzFeed News" in New York to talk about their upcoming, controversial movie, the recent Sony security breach, and other topics. The interview has been cancelled though, and representatives of Rogen and Franco haven't commented about the issue.
The actors have also been confirmed to pull out from other interviews, including their appearances for "Watch What Happens Live," "The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon" on Wednesday, and "Late Night With Seth Meyers" on Thursday. Rogen and Franco won't also attend the interview with Yahoo.
News about their sudden cancellations have been settled hours after "The Guardians of Peace," the group who claimed to be responsible to the Sony attacks, released a new message to the public. The message read, "We will clearly show it to you at the very time and places The Interview be shown, including the premiere, how bitter fate those who seek fun in terror should be doomed to. Soon all the world will see what an awful movie Sony Pictures Entertainment has made."
However, reports have suggested that Rogen and Franco are still slated to appear for New York special screening of "The Interview" on Thursday, according to Variety. In the previous week, the two were at the Los Angeles premiere, but didn't entertain any press interviews.
The cyber attack against Sony started since Nov. 24 and has been developing from leaked movies to unauthorized disclosure of emails between the company's executives. The hacker group has recently threatened an attack similar to 9/11 on theaters showing "The Interview."
"The world will be full of fear," the message from the group read. "Remember the 11th of September 2001. We recommend you to keep yourself distant from the places at that time. (If your house is nearby, you'd better leave.) Whatever comes in the coming days is called by the greed of Sony Pictures Entertainment."
"The Interview" movie has been scheduled to release on Christmas Day. North Korea has been accused for the attacks since the movie presented the assassination of their leader, King Jong-un. The nation, however, denied the allegations, but considered the attack as "righteous deed," according to CNN.
