Find out the details about the upcoming Online Heists in "Grand Theft Auto 5."
"Grand Theft Auto 5" Online Heists have been confirmed and a trailer has been launched to promote them, IGN reported.
In an interview with the renowned entertainment website, GTA Online producer and lead mission designer Imran Sarwar spilled some details about the anticipated feature. The producer has clarified the issue about the delayed release of the Heists and offered some previews on what gamers should expect.
"To be honest, they just turned out to be a lot more difficult than we originally thought," Sarwar said after being asked about Heists' development.
The initial idea, as Sarwar mentioned, was to create a new gameplay experience for GTA Online through the Story Mode of the game. The aim was to let players use their individual skills and cooperate with other players.
"After many months of designing, testing, rewriting and re-testing, we settled on the four-player structure that you will experience in the game," Sarwar continued. "It took a ton of work from our programmers and mission designers to make it work at the level we were happy with."
"We never want to have to move a date but if something is delayed, it's because it's not at the level we expect of ourselves."
Although the developers haven't finished the feature yet, Sarwar assured the gamers that they are "getting close" and players will be able to enjoy the Heists soon.
The GTA Online producer also announced that five unique strands, which involve over 20 total missions, will be available in the game. Players can interact with the Heists to an estimate of 20 hours of gameplay.
"We hope players will then replay them multiple times to take on the other roles and to try different ways of tackling the missions," Sarwar said. "We've tried to add a lot of variety and there's a mixture of open-ended gameplay, big set-pieces and a few surprises too."
A heist requires four players, which should rank 12 or above. One player would be designated as the heist leader. When forming a heist, players should own a high-end apartment, where they can set up their plans and launch missions as the leader.
Sarwar also told IGN that Heists have "definitely" changed from the time it was first announced. The team hasn't planned a next move after the Heists' release.
"Right now we just want to get Heists out there and get real world feedback before we look too far ahead," Sarwar answered. "Reaching this point has obviously taken much longer than we ever thought it would and we know we have a lot to live up to, but we're looking forward to finally being able to share them with other players soon."
"Grand Theft Auto 5" Online Heists has no confirmed release date as of the moment, but it is expected to be out early 2015.
