Phoenix Suns point guard Goran Dragic triggered speculations of a possible move to the Houston Rockets after the Slovenian playmaker followed the team's official Twitter page.
Dragic, who played for the Rockets for two seasons before he re-joined the Suns in 2012, might have dropped a big clue about his future, particularly a potential reunion with the Rockets.
Although there's still no report on a blockbuster trade between the Suns and the Rockets involving Dragic, it's still unusual for NBA player to follow the Twitter page of an opposing team.
The 28-year old playmaker and reigning Most Improved Player of the Year has been drawing tremendous trade interest from several contenders, including the Rockets.
The Rockets have been looking for an upgrade at the point guard position, and sources close to situation indicated general manager Daryl Morey has remain on the look for the third star that would complement Dwight Howard and James Harden.
The Rockets have been doing well early this season with point guard Patrick Beverley running the offense, though Morey still wanted an upgrade at the point guard spot.
Bleacher Report writer Howard Beck indicated that the Rockets will start to make moves on the trading front on Friday and are determined to use their $8.4 million trade exception in any deal.
"[The Rockets are] definitely doing something before Dec. 19," one source said last week The Rockets have an $8.4 million trade exception they are determined to use. They prefer to do so by Friday so that anyone they acquire can be re-traded by the Feb. 19 trade deadline," Beck stated.
"The Rockets, the source said, "are determined to complete something" with the exception and are working aggressively to find a trade partner. Houston had inquired about Kirilenko before the Nets sent him to Philadelphia."
Dragic is earning $7.5M this season and has an opt-out clause to become an unrestricted free-agent next summer. With the Suns committing on Eric Bledsoe (5-year, $70M) and Isaiah Thomas 4-year, $27M), Dragic's future in the Valley of the Suns is certainly murky.
While there's no assurance the Rockets will get the job done to get Dragic, it's definitely one of the scenarios to watch for in the coming weeks heading to Feb 19 trade deadline.
