Jennifer Aniston kids issue should really end. The 45-year-old actress is asking everyone to just stop talking about her womb.
Currently, Jennifer Aniston is hitting her stride. She is hitting another high note in an already successful career. Last week, the actress has gotten a Golden Globe and a Screen Actors Guild award nomination for her new film "Cake," playing the role of a woman suffering chronic pain after a car accident. She is also happily engaged to 43-year-old actor Justin Theroux.
Now, Jennifer Aniston is more at ease speaking out her mind against critics judging her decision and views on motherhood.
In an interview with Allure, the "Friends" star was not afraid to speak her mind about some of the hurtful rumors that have circulated about her. Jennifer Aniston was asked to name the most difficult thing she's ever battled in the press, according to ABC News.
Aniston has finally addressed the tabloid media's obsession with her being a mother.
"Oh, God, so many painful things. The accusation that I've put my career before the want, the desire to be a mother. This continually is said about me: that I was so career-driven and focused on myself; that I don't want to be a mother, and how selfish that is."
Jennifer Aniston added that the intense scrutiny feels like "an unfair pressure" on women, not just her.
"I have a lot of friends who decided not to have children, who can't have children, or are trying but are having a difficult time. There's all sorts of reasons why children aren't in people's lives, and no one has the right to assume. It's quite rude, insulting, and ignorant," she said.
"I don't like [the pressure] that people put on me, on women - that you've failed yourself as a female because you haven't procreated. I don't think it's fair. You may not have a child come out of your vagina, but that doesn't mean you aren't mothering - dogs, friends, friends' children," Jennifer Aniston, told Allure in its January issue.
"This continually is said about me: that I was so career-driven and focused on myself, that I don't want to be a mother, and how selfish that is."
She may have seemed confident in her choices, however, Jennifer Aniston admitted that it isn't easy to shake off the critics.
"Even saying it gets me a little tight in my throat," she said.
Aniston also gave a thought or two on feminism, reports Jezebel.
According to People, Jennifer Aniston said that people "overcomplicate" the notion of feminism. "It's simply believing in equality between men and women. Pretty basic."
In the interview, she also didn't pass up an opportunity to speak glowingly of Theroux.
"We're equals," she said. "He's a nurturer. He is so fiercely loyal. Beyond protective. I mean, the way he takes care of our dogs, he takes care of me, he takes care of friends."
Jennifer Aniston's pending nuptials to Theroux may be near, but the exact date remains unknown as the actress refused to share any news about it. Speculation about the much-awaited event has been rampant since their engagement in the summer of 2012. Meanwhile, all Aniston said about it to Allure was, "We do talk about it all the time."
