Netflix is a Great Travel Companion

Netflix is a way of life these days. Not only can you watch Gossip Girl anytime, but you can also check out Netflix originals like Orange is the New Black. If you are preparing to go traveling, you may think you should stop your subscription for while you are away. But, Netflix is now perfect for your travels.

Get the App

Before you leave, download the Netflix app. With the app you are able to access your tv shows and movies on the go. The only issue with the app is that you need to have wifi access because you can not stream offline. Netflix will also work with 3G, but unless you have an unlimited data plan, it really is not recommended.

Go International

Netflix is offered around the world. When you log on abroad, you will actually get a different selection of movies and tv shows. For instance, if you log on in France, you will get a wide selection of French movies that are not offered in the U.S. However, this goes both ways. Do not expect to start a film in the U.S. and then go abroad to finish it because it may not be available.

Language and Subtitles

If you happen to want to watch a foreign film while abroad, check out the subtitle feature that Netflix offers. You can subtitle most films or even change the language. You can even change an English show into a different language to practice your skills.

Netflix Secrets

Want to know a secret for traveling with Netflix? If you are abroad and really have the urge to watch House of Cards, it is not the end of the world. Download a VPN or use a Chrome App to change your IP address. If you use a VPN you can "fake" being in the U.S. and watch the American version of Netflix. This also goes both ways. If you want to watch movies offered internationally and not in the U.S. use a VPN to "fake" being abroad.

Overall, Netflix is a great investment and you should not stop your subscription if you are planning on traveling. Wifi is offered all over the world and it gives you an opportunity to watch your favorite shows right on your phone, tablet, or computer.
