Lollipop will soon run on Sony Xperia Z series and the company has confirmed it.
Sony has announced that Android 5.0 Lollipop will be made available on Sony Xperia Z3, according to their website.
The announcement revealed the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) version of Android 5.0 running on Xperia Z3. The latest Android OS is also available on Xperia Z1 and Z2. The new Android update promises new features, such as a more responsive UI, better control of the security of your device, new ways to manage notifications, improved performance and more.
The company is planning to integrate the Android Lollipop update on the entire Z series, including Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR, Xperia Tablet Z, Xperia Z1, Xperia Z1S, Xperia Z Ultra, Xperia Z1 Compact, Xperia Z2, Xperia Z2 Tablet, Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3v, Xperia Z3 Compact and Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact. Sony Z Ultra Google Play edition devices will be receive the update first.
At beginning of 2015, the core Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z2 series will be upgraded, followed by the remaining devices mentioned earlier, according to iDigitalTimes.
Meanwhile, a popular CyanogenMod 12 (CM12) ROM with Android 5.0 Lollipop update has been recently released, according to International Business Times.
Excited Xperia Z3 users can try the new Android features through the CynanogenMod 12's custom Lollipop ROM.
Although the CM12 is considered the most stable custom ROM available in the market, it is still in beta and undergoing developing stage. IBTimes UK has provided a set of instructions to achieve Lollipop on Xperia Z3 devices, but has advised users to perform the procedure at their own risk. They also provided the link to CyanogenMod 12 Android 5.0 Lollipop ROM for Xperia Z3.
Besides Sony, other smartphone companies are also expected to release their devices with Android 5.0 Lollipop soon. Nexus, Samsung and HTC has announced that their mobile gadgets will roll out with the latest Android OS by the following year, according to Christian Post.
