LG G Pad 8.3 vs Nexus 7 Review: Reviewers Compare Design, Specs, Features

LG G Pad 8.3 and Google Nexus 7 are both great tablets released in the previous year but which one of them is a better tablet?

LG G Pad 8.3 and Google Nexus 7 have been out to the market and critics have offered their insights about the two tablets.

Manufactured by LG, G Pad 8.3 offers users a decent screen quality. With its 8-inch display, the device features a larger screen than Nexus 7, which has a 7-inch display. Users, who prefer a more portable tablet, might take Nexus 7 though since it's size fits in some pockets, according to PC Advisor.

Both Nexus 7 and G Pad sport IPS display panels with a resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels, but since Nexus 7 is smaller the pixels are more compact with 323 ppi. G Pad, on the other hand, has a pixel density of 273 ppi.

The two devices feature multi-touch and light sensor. Nexus 7 also has a scratch-resistant glass (Corning Gorilla Glass), while G Pad hasn't.

Regarding their camera specifications, G Pad has more features to offer. While Nexus 7 has an auto-focus, G Pad sports back-illuminated sensor, white balance presets, geo tagging, high dynamic mode (HDR), panorama, night mode, scenes, self-timer and a voice activation feature. Their 5MP camcorders both take HD quality photos but G Pad has a slightly better front camera with 1.3MP. Nexus 7 only has 1.2MP.

When it comes to performance, Nexus 7 has the smoother performance even though LG integrated a newer chip to G Pad, PC Advisor reported.

The Nexus 7 is made available in both 16 and 32GB models but it doesn't have a slot for a microSD card for additional storage. G Pad has a card slot though, where users can insert microSD, microSDHC, microSDXC up to 64GB, according to Phone Arena.

Nexus 7 is compatible with all Qi wireless chargers but the G Pad has not offered such feature. The latter, however, has an infrared transmitter that users can use as a smart remote controller. It can be used to control gadgets, such as TVs, Hi-Fis and Blu-ray players.

As of now, Google Nexus 7 has been retailed in eBay at $212.60 from the original price of $229. Meanwhile, Amazon offers LG G Pad 8.3 at a price of $243.99.
