It always happens to someone. Forgetting a travel essential can cause stress and make traveling even more difficult. If you do forget one of these things, remember to remain calm and try to use some these tips.
1. Charging cord
If your iPhone says 16% and you can not find your charging cord anywhere, you may start freaking out. Forgetting your charging cord could be a really terrible mistake, even more so if you figure it out too late. Check the shops around you if they sell power cords and even check the grocery stores or pharmacies if you are having no luck. Worst case scenario, spot someone with your smartphone and ask to use their cord for a few. Tell them it is a dire situation.
2. ATM Card
You may be stressing if you find that you left your wallet or ATM card at home. First, just try to take a deep breath. If you cannot go back and get it before your flight or train, consider getting a money transfer or using your credit card to take money out. Yes, both these options will cost more than using your ATM card, but try to look on the bright side in that your trip is not totally ruined.
3. Spare contacts
"Can you see me now?" If the answer is no, maybe you forgot to bring a pair of spare contacts. Whether it is too windy one day or if you drop one down the sink, losing a contact can happen at anytime and if you do not have a spare, it could mean serious problems. To prevent issues, never leave the house without a pair of glasses. Yes, they may bring you back to 2001, but at least you will be able to see if you lose a contact or two.
4. Prescription
Forgetting your medication can be a real hassle, especially if you are going on an international trip. Your first step is call your doctor to discuss the situation. They can sometimes send your prescription to a pharmacy around your destination or help you find a substitute. Just remember to relax and keep the communication open with your physician.
5. Passport
Traveling internationally? You may as well turn around and go home. Obviously, you can not leave the U.S. with a passport. The biggest issue is if you forget or lose your passport abroad. If this is the case, try not to panic. Just head to the nearest embassy and consult them on how to get a replacement. Plan to put your travel schedule on hold though because it could take some time. It also is not cheap to get a replacement, so try to prevent this from happening at all.
