Smartphone users are itching to get their hands on the latest Android OS. Some companies have announced the dates of devices' release with the Lollipop update.
Android 5.0 Lollipop is in demand for Nexus, Samsung, HTC and Sony devices after Google recently released the update this year, The Christian Post reported.
Consumers are still waiting for Android 5.0 Lollipop to finally run on certain smartphone devices. Google has already released handsets with the latest Android update but not all devices in the market has been catered.
For instance, Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 6, Nexus 7, Nexus 9 and 10 have been released with the Lollipop update, although Nexus S and Galaxy Nexus owners are still waiting for Android 5.0 to be integrated on their devices.
Samsung smartphone users are also in the waiting list since some devices are not out with the update yet. Although Galaxy S5 is currently the only device to have Android 5.0, Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy S4 are set to have the update by the end of the year. Galaxy Note 3 will come with Lollipop in January next year and Galaxy S4 Google Play Edition is anticipated to follow soon.
The Lollipop update has also been promised to run on HTC devices, such as HTC One mini, HTC One mini 2 and HTC One Max. HTC One Google Play Edition and HTC One M8 Google Play Edition are also expected to come with the Android 5.0 update soon. The HTC One and the HTC One M8 will roll out with the Lollipop version within 80 days of receiving the Lollipop source code.
Meanwhile, most of the updates for Sony phones will be released at the beginning of 2015. The date hasn't been announced yet though. Next year the Lollipop is expected to come to the Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3 Compact, Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact, Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z2 Tablet, while the Xperia Z Ultra Google Play Edition have been speculated to get the update very soon.
On the other hand, Motorola has released a bunch of smartphones with the Lollipop update. Almost all of the new Motorola devices will be upgraded to the new Android OS update, according to Christian Today. Motorola released a statement, saying, "The next generation of Android - Android 5.0 Lollipop - has been released to the Android Open Source Project (AOSP). We will be working with our technology and carrier partners to bring it to you."
Android Lollipop update has been released on Moto X, Moto G, Moto G with 4G LTE, Moto E, DROID Turbo, DROID Ultra and DROID Maxx. Motorola has also announced that the company will soon add new devices in the future.
