Lakers Rumors: Marc Gasol, Kevin Durant To Comprise Purple-and-Gold’s Dream Team for 2016-17 NBA Season

The Los Angeles Lakers might be struggling this season, but Bleacher Report Lakers insider Kevin Ding cooked up something that would make every purple-and-gold fan exciting for the 2015 and 2016 free-agency.

According to Ding, the Lakers might actually build a dream team in two years time if everything falls in place in the coming off-seasons.

While it sounds overboard, the Lakers could sign All-Star center Marc Gasol to a max contract next summer and perhaps add Kevin Durant and Mike Conley to join forces with holdovers Kobe Bryant and Julius Randle to form a formidable starting five.

"There are a lot of good options out there," Ding said of his Lakers free-agency dream team. "Bring in Marc Gasol. You are in 2015, don't wait for Joachim Noah or somebody in 2016, bring in Gasol. He's a great defensive player, a great offensive player these days. You know, a guy very familiar with the Lakers' family.

When Kobe's salary goes off the books in 2016, then it starts to get very interesting. Absolutely, Kevin Durant is the top of the Lakers' free-agency wish list, and everybody's list.

"And still you probably have enough space to bring in another star free-agent, maybe a max guy like Mike Conley, who is perfect fit at point guard, and put him in with Julius Randle and Kobe Bryant. Then, you have a pretty exciting team for 2016-17."

With regards to bench players, the Lakers are looking into a sea of possibilities with veteran players like Joe Johnson and David West, who could join the Lakers' bandwagon for their one last chance in winning an NBA championship ring.

Ding's dream team looks very ambitious to majority of NBA fans, and perhaps to several Lakers fanatics. However, there's no doubt the Lakers will try to form a team of this caliber very soon as general manager Mitch Kupchack and owner Jim Buss try to revive the franchise's winning tradition and give Bryant a fitting farewell before he calls it a career for good.
