India 10 Nuclear Reactors - Russian President Vladimir Putin has already confirmed to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi that he will help the Asian country build at least 10 more nuclear reactors.
On Thursday, the two partnering countries already signed an agreement regarding the Indian 10 nuclear reactors, the BBC reports.
Modi also announced that Putin and Russia are willing to be India's top defence supplier.
The agreement is Putin's move to expand Russia's ties with Asia amid Western sanctions.
Putin's visit to the country is his first since Modi was elected in May.
Putin's visit to Modi's country was also very timely since the country is suffering from power shortages. India's 10 nuclear reactors are expected to fill in these shortages.
So when will the nuclear reactors be built? Modi says that based on their rather "ambitious vision," they are eyeing a timeline that could realise this plan in the next 20 years.
"We have outlined an ambitious vision for nuclear energy of at least 10 more reactors," Modi said at the joint press briefing with the Russian president, according to NDTV. "It will have the highest standards of safety in the world. It will also include manufacture of equipment and components in India."
In the 20 agreements signed by the two parties on Thursday, two clauses dictate that Russia is to manufacture its advanced helicopters in India and that it is also to put up factories that make military equipment in the country.
One of the clauses also dictate that the two countries will join forces in exploring join energy projects in the Arctic, reports Yahoo! News.
"Our approaches to key global and regional issues are either similar or very close," Putin said.
India's 10 nuclear reactors are expected to be products of the Asian country's flourishing relationship with Russia since the 1950s, following the death of Stalin.
