Jeremy Lin Drawing Interest from Warriors; Golden State Potential Destination for Linsanity Next Summer

While Jeremy Lin is dealing with what he calls the toughest situation of his career, there seems to be a future after his playing days with the Los Angeles Lakers over as Golden State Warriors owner Joe Lacob expressed interest in the Asian-American star.

In a recent press conference, Lacob talked about his regret of letting Lin walk away after his rookie season with the Warriors. The Warriors top honcho added they did not expect Lin would grow into a pretty solid player in the league, because the previous coaching staff never tried to tap his potential in the first place.

“I had a coaching staff that didn’t really use him and didn’t see what we saw and he wound up going somewhere else and becoming Jeremy Lin,” Lacob told the press.

“That’s a little bit of a regret that I didn’t trust my own gut just a little bit stronger when it came down to the decision. It was complicated and there were trade-offs. It’s like anything else and I can’t get into what those trade-offs were, but there were.”

As everybody knows, Lin turned to be a global sporting star after bursting out of nowhere to save the Knicks from a troublesome season in 2012. Banking on his strong performance in New York, Lin eventually landed a three-year, $23 million deal with the Houston Rockets before his career has gone a little bit rough these past two seasons.

Playing in his final year of his contract that pays him roughly $15 million this season, the 26-year old Lin is faced with the same reasons the Rockets traded him to Los Angeles this offseason – inconsistency.
Lin, who saw the end of his run as the Lakers starter after 21 games, admitted that he’s still figuring out how to make a big impact in Byron Scott’s Princeton offense but he’s nevertheless optimistic that the purple and gold can make the playoffs.

Many analysts, including Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports, believe Lin is just for a one-year rental for the Lakers as general manager Mitch Kupchack looks to inject better talent, primarily at the point guard spot, this coming offseason.

With Lin hitting the free-agency market, the Warriors could be an ideal fit for the former Harvard because of their fast-paced triangle offense. He could be an ideal backup point guard for Stephen Curry, who has become a legitimate title contender this season.
