Alex Borstein, the Deerfield native behind multiple voices, has recently been chosen to star in an HBO series, "Getting On." Apparently, not everyone loves and appreciates the voices that Borstein does.
According to her, her son, who is only six years old, does not want her to do the voices whenever he is around. "Every stuffed animal he has, I give a voice to," Alex Borstein shared. "He has a centipede that is a little Italian lady." Hilariously, Borstein uses her Italian accented voice when she says this.
She then added, "It drives him nuts. He'll say, 'Stop that!' But then, he tries to do it himself and it's cute."
Her voice talents actually go way beyond her son's stuffed animal characters. She actually owns the voice behind Lois, as featured on one of Fox's highly watched cartoon shows, "Family Guy." She also does two different voices on this spring's animated Fox film, "Bordertown."
The voices that she does are so unique that her fans regularly approach her and ask her to speak into their mobile phones. "They'll say, 'Oh, do the voice!'" Alex Borstein shared. "They'll have me leave voice mails for their friends."
Even if she is already quite famous for her voices, it would seem that she has decided to delve into another entertainment-related venture. Apart from hearing her, her fans can now get to see her in action on a current HBO TV series, "Getting On."
This show is actually a comedy series that has a dark type of comedy. She plays the role of a nurse who works in a women's extended care facility that operates in an overwhelmed health care system. She will be featured in the show alongside fellow Illinois native, Lauri Metcalf, who is a founding member of Chicago's Steppenwolf Theater, and Niecy Nash of "Reno 911!"
"A lot of people say, 'I don't watch a show about old people and death,'" said Alex Borstein. "People in LA like to pretend they're not going to die. I'm from Chicago. I know seasons are real. People are going to die."
