After running a long time on television, "Two and a Half Men" finally prepares its goodbyes.
CBS has announced the finale date of the longest-running live-action sitcom currently on television "Two and a Half Men," Variety reported.
The comedy series has premiered 12 seasons since 2003. The finale episode will mark as the 262nd episode of the show. The series has received Emmy Award nominations. Co-star Jon Cryer has won two awards for the show.
"Two and a Half Men" is considered the most watched sitcom for five straight years, according to Entertainment Weekly. Despite the several criticisms and multiple changes in time slot, the show continued to gain decent ratings. As a matter of fact, the current season has been watched by an average of 10.1 million viewers.
Furthermore, the show has survived several issues in the past, including one of the most prominent firings in the history of television, where one of the main characters portrayed by Charlie Sheen has been let go. Sheen left the show in 2011.
The TV series also lost a longtime co-star Angus Jones, who depicted the character of Jake, in 2013. The actor spoke against the sitcom, saying that he was a "paid hypocrite," according to New York Post. The show, as Jones said, "was making light of topics in our world that are really problems for a lot of people."
Producer Chuck Lorre casted Cryer with Ashton Kutcher after Charlie Sheen's death. Ashton Kutcher made his first appearance in the ninth season of the show. In this season, a funeral was presented in the show to pay tribute to the actor.
The show will be replaced by a new comedy series called "Odd Couple," featuring the "Friends" star Matthew Perry. It is speculated that the upcoming show will resemble "Two and a Half Men," since the story still presents another male roommate sitcom. Fans, however, take "Two and a Half Men" as a unique show that can't be replaced.
"Two and a Half Men" will air its last episode on Feb. 19 the following year at 9 p.m on CBS.
