eBay News: Latest iPad App Design Offers Better Shopping Experience; iPad Air 2 Releases New Emotional Commercial

eBay has offered its customers a new and improved way of purchasing goods online with their latest iPad application, which was released on Tuesday, according to iDownload Blog.

eBay announced the release of their completely redesigned application. The new eBay app features a new layout, larger images, improved notifications, better item suggestions tabbed navigation, smarter search results and more. It also features the new Today homepage, which showcases the new and unique product line, which eBay themselves picked for their customers.

Chief product officer RJ Pittman stated that the app's new design has been inspired from Pinterest's layout, Re/Code reported. Pinterest has popularized the concept of discovering products via grids of images personally customized by users.

"I'm happy to openly use the Pinterest model as an example," Pittman said in an interview. "We want this to be as much a source of inspiration as a shopping destination."

Pittman added that the 52.2-megabyte application has been redesigned for online shoppers to find new and unique products easily.

"As a product guy and design guy, I've just been yearning to pull all of the stuff out of the catalogue and get it in front of users in a way that's both inspiring and simple," Pittman said.

Currently, the e-commerce company has more than 800 million customers to cater. They conducted a study to help them understand their customers' needs. The research revealed that 30% of the shoppers situated in United States and 50% of users worldwide have been using their mobile devices to purchase ready-to-buy products instead of bidding on e-commerce sites.

Fifty-nine percent of these users are multiscreen shoppers, which means that they often pick out and save the items on their mobile gadget and later, make the purchase on their desktop. This behavior has pushed eBay to conceptualize a way to enthuse users in picking their products with an engaging design.

Meanwhile, Apple has released a new TV commercial promoting their latest flagship, iPad Air 2. The 60-second commercial entitled "Change is in the Air" presented different people using the device in various ways to improve their daily lives, according to Venture Beat. With eBay's new revamped application, iPad Air 2 users can find shopping easy and delightful to do.
