Fans who miss Anna Kendrick's singing voice will once again hear her "Pitch Perfect" vocals in a new romance flick.
Anna Kendrick has made an appearance in another musical movie after the hit "Pitch Perfect" and "Into the Woods," according to Decider.
Kendrick plays the character of Cathy Hiatt in the musical, romance film "The Last Five Years." The story revolves around Cathy and her novelist lover Jamie Wellerstein, who is portrayed by "Smash" actor Jeremy Jordan.
The trailer shows Kendrick singing a song that hints the end of her character's five-year relationship with Jamie. On the other hand, Jamie sings songs at the beginning of their romance. The movie is supposed to present the story with Cathy's chronology at the end of the relationship, while Jamie's begin at the time their relationship has bloomed, according to MTV News. The pair eventually sing one song in the middle of the film when their stories meet in the middle.
The characters only have a few dialogues, which means there will be more singing in the movie. The film features 14 songs that show the perspectives of the two protagonists.
"The Last Five Years" is an adaptation of the popular off-Broadway musical that goes with the same name, which Tony-winning Jason Robert Brown created in 2002. Richard LaGravenese directed the recent version of the film.
Kendrick has also been casted as Cinderella in the musical flick "Into the Wood," which will be released on Christmas Day. She will also reprise another singing character as a member of the Barden Bellas in "Pitch Perfect 2." The latter is expected to be out in the theaters on May the following year.
RADiUS has planned to release the film on Valentine's Day in the United States, while Icon has been assigned to handle the release in the United Kingdom.
The film has been slated to hit the theaters on Feb. 13 in 2015. The movie, however, has already made its debut at the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival on September this year.
