Many keyboard applications have emerged, but the new iPhone keyboard might top them all.
Nintype is new keyboard app that offers iPhone and iPad users the ability to type 130 words per minute using two-handed gestures, according to iPhone Hacks.
The application uses a combination of various techniques to improve the typing speed of the user. It has been developed with swipe-type function and has been designed to be used with two hands simultaneously. This is the first keyboard application that has allowed two-hand gestures, according to iDownload Blog.
Nintype is not simply a keyboard though. It also offers shortcuts and word transformers, stylized text, a calculator, and more. Users can swipe-to-type using both thumbs to type words. The keyboard engine also analyzes the user's input. The application won't try to separate the characters with a space after the user lift his finger, since it recognizes when the user is still typing a word.
The ability to tap on multiple characters simultaneously is considered really helpful especially for typing small words. For words with two letters, the user can simply tap on both characters at the same time.
Furthermore, the application learns the words that are not found in the default dictionary as the user types them. The user will only have to tap out the letters of the new word and it will be saved in the app's word bank. The user can also swipe left or right on the space bar to display the cursor so he can move between words. A variety of options are also available, such as all caps, alternate words, and others. The user will simply have to swipe upward on the space bar to see these options.
Although it does increase the typing speed of users when handling mobile devices, the keyboard is regarded as difficult to learn, according to Business Times. The application, however, offers a detailed tutorial when it is first launched, presenting directions and shortcuts in mastering it. Nintype developers has also suggested that first time users begin using the keyboard normally then gradually learn more swipes and shortcuts.
The application is currently supporting the following languages:: Danish, Dutch, English, French, German, Indonesian, Italian, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Spanish, Swedish.
Nintype is available in App Store for $4.99.
