The national carrier of United Arab Emirates-Eithad Airways-has been deemed and celebrated as the world's leading airline at the "Oscars" of the travel industry for the sixth consecutive time. This award cemented the reputation of the said airline as the standard bearer.
The winners of the World Travel Awards Grand Final were announced over the weekend at a gala in Anguilla. The event aims to expose and promote the best hotels, airlines, resorts, and cruise lines all over the world.
Eithad Airways was able to raise the bar of luxury travel this year by launching their new three-room, in-flight apartment which comes with an en-suite shower, double bed, and personal butler. They called this "The Residence".
In other news, the Ciragan Palace Kempinski Istanbul in Turkey was able to break and take over the nine-year winning streak record of Burj Al Arab in the category of world's leading hotel.
The Turkish hotel sits along the Bosphorus coast providing clients with the grandeur of the era with ornate Arabic and Middle Eastern décor. Ciragan Palace Kempinski Istanbul was formerly known as an Imperial Ottoman palace.
The winners of the said travel awards were determined by the votes casted by the members of the travel industry as well as the consumers.
In terms of public flying, Cathay Pacific of Hong Kong is the consumer favorite. Other big winners include the Saxon Hotel, Villas and Spa in Johannesburg, South Africa-which was deemed to be the world's leading boutique hotel; Royal Caribbean as the world's leading cruise line; AirAsia as the leading low-cost carrier; and finally, Dubai as the world's leading destination.
