Protests and mass action continue in Chicago.
According to Chicago Police, there were 10 arrests already as the protests continued to march over the state on Sunday over the grand jury decision last week. This is for the reason that the decision was not to indict police officers responsible for the deaths of Eric Garner in New York and Michaek Brown in Ferguson, Missouri.
Hundreds of protesters took over the streets on Sunday evening. This is to condemn, according to them, the systemic problem of police brutality and profiling of young African American men in the country. They said that the lives of the young African American men are being taken and if they do not go out on the streets and speak out, America will think that what happening in the country is all right.
The movement is lead by a group of young people, and this has remained peaceful; although there was some tension at one point when the police started arresting a handful of random people. Most of those who joined the protest movement stood their ground and promised they are not going anywhere.
One of the protesters said, "I'm going to be out here as long as I have to be out here, to get something accomplished."
The marches began on Sunday morning at the churches. With regards to the current events, the parishioners also expressed their disappointment and discontent at the New York grand jury's decision to not indict the police officer who choked Garner to death as well. Garner was an unarmed black man who stopped for allegedly selling loose cigarettes last July.
"It's hurtful when you come out of your house and they instantly profile you, want to do something just because of who you are, the skin you wear," Gerald Lamar Wilson said.
