Samsung Galaxy S6 Release Date and Updates: Critics Watch Out For New Screen Innovation, Price Cut Before Launch

Fans are getting ready for Samsung's new smartphone, which is rumored to introduce new features, including a screen innovation.

Samsung fanatics has been expecting Samsung Galaxy S5's successor and details about the upcoming handset has been leaked, according to Phone Arena.

The recent price cut of Samsung Galaxy S5 has also been taken as a hint that the next device launch is not far-off, International Business Times reported.

According to the leaked information, Samsung Galaxy S6 will continue to feature a Super AMOLED in its screen just like Samsung Galaxy S5. Critics, however, are expecting a surprise from Samsung after they have announced Project Zero. The project is believed to bring the "biggest update" for the upcoming Samsung device, according to Trusted Reviews.

On the other hand, Samsung Galaxy S6 is also rumored to be equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 810. Snapdragon 810 is an octa-core 64-bit chip that can power screens of up to 4K resolution. Samsung has already featured a resolution of 2560 x 1440 and users are expecting the next smartphone to have the same resolution.

There are also rumors that Samsung is improving their camera specs from Samsung Galaxy S5's 16-megapixel camera to 20-megapixel.

Besides a fingerprint scanner and heart rate monitor, which have been integrated on some of Samsung's smartphones already, an iris detector might also be included in the next Samsung phone, according to TechRadar.

Samsung might also add the features from Galaxy Note 4, such as UV sensor, multi-directional and fast charging capabilities to Samsung Galaxy S6.

If the specs are indeed better and the device will have a premium build, Samsung Galaxy S6 might retail at a more expensive price that its previous version, which was sold for £579 (around $972 / AU$1048) without the SIM.

Regarding its release date, fans assumed that Samsung will keep its tradition. Galaxy S5 was announced on February this year and released on April. Galaxy S6 is speculated to be launched at about the same time the following year. Others, however, believe that Samsung will announce Galaxy S6 on next year's Mobile World Congress. The event will take place between March 2 and March 5.
