Dallas Cowboys Chicago Bears played each other on Thursday, with the Cowboys ending the game with a win. They did more than shatter the 8-8 ceiling by beating the Bears.
They submitted a strong rebuttal to the argument that their loss to Philadelphia was a precursor to yet another late-season slide. It appears that the Thanksgiving win of the Eagles was nothing more than simply a bad day at the office. Plus, now that Jason Garrett has presided over the first winning season of his tenure as the team's head coach, the players must feel gratified.
Quarterback Tony Romo told the press after the game on Thursday, "Other than the fact that we still have all our goals in front of us, I think that's more for you guys to do your December 8-8 stuff. It's a fun week for you guys, I'm sure. Now, you have to come up with something else."
Although the team had a 41-28 win over the Bears, it was later revealed that Romo actually played with a torn rib cartilage for the past couple of months. Still, kicking off the month with a win does not immediately put to bed the team's recurrent theme of December struggles. Fortunately, though, it does allow the team to nudge the needle past .500 and also somewhat guarantee its first winning season since 2009.
Tight end Jason Witten said, "It's special. Having said that, we didn't come into this season to win nine games."
It was DeMarco Murray who laid the foundation for the ninth win of the team with the Dallas Cowboys Chicago Bears game. He rushed for 179 yards and caught nine passes for another 49 yards.
The coach of Chicago, Marc Trestman, said, "It's very evident on the field, for as big of a back as he is, he is extremely explosive, agile, has great quickness and power. He has it all."
