Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom KitKat updates started to roll out this past July. However, amazingly, it managed to avoid making it to the AT&T version of the device.
It is only now, after several months, that the Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom, the ones that are being sold by AT&T, is finally in the process of getting the new software. Sadly, however, the KitKat is no longer the latest version of the Android at this time.
Still, the fact that this is the first ever update that the AT&T version of the Samsung Galaxy S4 has ever received can only mean that the gadgets would not be seeing the Android 5.0 Lollipop anytime soon.
AT&T had actually launched the Zoom last November, back when it was still running on the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. Now, it makes a huge leap to the Android 4.4.2 KitKat, with absolutely no interim update to the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean for whatever reason.
Sadly, the carrier did not bother issuing a change log for the new bits. Perhaps it is their intention to simply state that the Android 4.4.2 is the new version that the device will run in once it has been updated.
After applying the said update, the device will be on build C105A_KKUCUBNI1, for what it is worth. Moreover, the normal cautions with regards to the over-the-air rollouts are still valid in this case. This means that those who have not yet been notified that the update is now available for downloading and installation need not panic.
It is expected that it will most likely take a few days before it reaches all handsets. That said, AT&T had already listed the official release date of the update on November 28 this year. This means that those who have long been waiting for it do not have to wait for so long anymore.
