Amazon has aimed to bring comfort to toddlers as they present their very own diapers and wipes.
Amazon has taken another step in making their own brand for everyday consumptions on Wednesday, starting with diapers and baby wipes, USA Today reported.
Amazon released its line of "premium, ethically-sourced products" called Elements to promote their Prime subscription service, according to Business Insider.
The online retailing agent emphasized that Elements will provide transparency to shoppers, giving them "an unprecedented level of information" regarding their products, Yahoo! Tech reported.
"The two things customers told us they want are premium products that meet their high standards, and access to information so they can make informed decisions," said Sunny Jain, Amazon.com consumables vice president.
Every Elements merchandise contains a QR code, which buyers can scan with their Amazon app. The application then displays the product's information, such as where and when the product was made and the materials used to create the item. They also provided the reason for choosing the materials.
Amazon is also working directly with their manufacturer to control the price of their product. Currently, the diapers are retailed at $7.99 in a 40-count package, which means a diaper is about 19 cents. Competing brands are mostly priced at the range of 24 cents to 34 cents.
Despite the tempting deals Amazon is offering, introducing their own branded products doesn't ensure success. Amazon has already introduced other brands in the previous years, which unfortunately didn't stand a chance in the tough marketing competition, according to Re/code.
For example, Amazon released Amazon Basics, a line of batteries and electronics accessories. They also introduced a line bedding called Pinzon and an outdoor furniture named Strathwood. The products weren't able to catch the consumers' interests.
Regarding whether the Elements products will be made available to non-Prime members, Amazon confirmed that the merchandise will remain exclusive to Prime members. Amazon Prime subscription costs $99 annually, which grants members free shipping on most products. Additionally, the subscription allows customers to stream Amazon's videos and music services.
Amazon hasn't announced what other products will be released through Elements besides diapers and baby wipes.
