Egypt court issues death penalty sentence to nearly 200 defendants on Tuesday.
The latest news about the verdict recently imposed against 188 individuals is related to the previous violence on August 14, 2013. The said incident which happened last year involved the killings of more than 11 policemen who were attacked in a police station in the town of Kardasa. The massive act of violence sparked when more than a thousand supporters of ousted president, Mohamed Morsi of the orthodox Muslim Brotherhood party at Rabaa al-Adawiya Square.
It can be recalled that the punishment of death penalty to more than 100 people held responsible for the massive shooting happened when the army allegedly ousted Morsi from the position making them kill his numerous supporters. According to a report from New York Times, the attackers launched rocket-propelled grenades and mutilated the bodies of dead officers. The verdict was issued by a court in Giza, Egypt.
While the possible sentence is currently a hot topic, it will not be effectively executed soon. The individuals currently in the custody of authorities still have to wait for the final decision regarding their sentence.
