‘House of Cards’ Season 3 News: Netflix Announces Premiere Date

Netflix has finally announced the comeback of Frank and Claire Underwood. Fans can't wait to see what the couple is planning to do after acquiring the most powerful position in the United States.

The Underwoods will be coming back in the third season of "House of Cards" on Feb. 27 the following year, according to IGN.

Netflix has announced the launch date on Twitter stating, "a special message from the White House." The post also included a 12-second teaser showing Frank Underwood and his wife, Claire, climbing the stairs to a plane, which is presumed to be Air Force One. The video was also posted on Netflix' official Facebook page.

The first season of House of Cards, which adapted BBC's miniseries of the same name, introduces Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright as the "power-hungry political" couple, according to The Verge. Spacey characterized Frank while Wright portrayed Claire's character. They reprised their roles in the following seasons.

"House of Cards" ended its second season on Valentine's Day this year. Before season 2 ended, the manipulative Frank and Claire have successfully replaced Garrett and Patricia Walker as the President and First Lady of the United States, leaving viewers wondering about the Underwoods next move.

"House of Cards" is the first original online-only TV series to win Emmy and Golden Globe nominations, according to The Telegraph. Wright won Best Actress in a TV Drama while portraying Claire in the first season of the TV series in January 2013, giving Netflix its first Golden Globe. She beat Julianna Margulies from "The Good Wife," Tatiana Maslany from "Orphan Black," Taylor Schilling from "Orange is the New Black," and Kerry Washington from "The Scandal."

Netflix also won its first Emmys for Outstanding Directing for a Drama on the 65th Primetime Emmys Awards in 2013.

The episodes of the third season are expected to be released all at once just like in the first and second seasons. Netflix will also premiere an adaptation of Lemony Snicket's "A Series of Unfortunate Events" in early 2015 in Australia and New Zealand, according to The Guardian.
