'Walking Dead' Series Update: TV Spinoff Companion Series to Add New Cast Members and Recreate New Title?

The zombies have additional victims to terrorize in "The Walking Dead" spinoff.

Frank Dillane and Alycia Debnam-Carey have been selected to become the new survivors of the anticipated "Walking Dead" spinoff companion series, according to Deadline.

Dillane, who depicted Tom Riddle in "Harry Potter and the the Half-Blood Prince," has retired from witchcraft to survive in a zombie apocalypse together with "Into the Storm" star Debnam-Carey. They will act as the children of a female guidance counselor named Nancy Tompkins, who is yet to be casted.

Debnam-Carey will portray an "ambitious" character named Ashley while Dillane will need to pull off a "former drug addict" image as he will characterize Nick in the show. The spinoff will take place in the same zombie apocalypse as the original TV series, but in a different location. The series will also introduce a different story, which will revolve around Nancy and Sean Cabrera, who is a divorced teacher.

On the one hand, rumors have suggested that the spinoff companion series will bear the title "Cobalt." A source from the TV network handling "Walking Dead," however, denied the speculations, according to Time.

Adam Davidson will direct the companion series while Robert Kirkman and Dave Erickson will co-create the spinoff series. Kirkman wrote the graphic novel which inspired "The Walking Dead." He expressed his respect for Erickson and his excitement about working with him in an interview with Entertainment Weekly

" I can just say that I have been a huge fan of Dave Erickson for many, many years," Kirkman said. "To me, he was the best possible guy for the job and I'm very excited about this idea of doing this companion show for 'The Walking Dead' because people aren't quite aware of all the different new angles we can go in and the new kind of stories we can tell and just how unique and exciting and how much this show can stand alone."

"I think people are going to be pretty taken aback by how cool this companion show can be," Kirkman added. "And being able to work with Dave on it will be pretty exciting for me."

Besides casting in "Harry Potter," Dillane also made an appearance as James Papadopoulos in the comedy film "Papadopoulos & Sons." Debnam-Carey, on the other hand, made her American movie debut as Kaitlyn in the 2014 movie "Into the Storm." She also appeared in AMC's "Galyntine."

"The Walking Dead" will make its comeback to AMC in the United States and FOX in the United Kingdom in February the following year.
