Charli XCX is not satisfied in "Breaking the Rules" so she went out to liven up the idea of "Breaking Up."
Charli XCX has released the music video of one of her latest songs, "Breaking Up," BuzzFeed reported.
Featuring a song from her sophomore album, "Sucker," Charli XCX, whose real name is Charlotte Emma Aitchison, launched a music video with a retro theme set in the '90s. The song delivered the concept of having fun despite breaking up from a relationship.
The music video starts with Aitchison's boyfriend embarrassing her in front of her supposed-to-be in-laws. The guy unintentionally offends the singer as he is telling his parents how he is famous around women and mentioning another girl to be "the hottest girl in school." Noticing Aitchison's irritation, he attempts to clean up his mess by correcting his statement. Aitchison, however, doesn't buy it and goes on to break up with him.
She then goes to a bowling alley where she has fun with her friends. She sings in the song how everything was wrong with the guy so breaking up with him wasn't hard. She also mentions the different reasons why she's calling it quits.
At the end of the music video, her ex-boyfriend apologizes through a video message. She obviously doesn't want to get back together after the phone gets smashed by a hammer.
Meanwhile, Aitchison described her music in a recent interview with Seventeen. The 22-year-old singer said that she doesn't make punk music, but rather she makes "pop that's inspired by elements of punk."
"For me, as a person, am I punk," Aitchison reflected on her personality. "In the sense that I do what I want and I enjoy going against the norm, I suppose I am."
"Sucker" will be due out on Dec. 16. Besides "Breaking Up," the album will also contain Aitchison's famous songs, such as "Breaking the Rules" and "Boom Clap," which she performed recently at the American Music Awards.
