Not only did Williams and Delevingne made a duet but they were also brought up to their feet as they waltzed their way in presenting the history of Chanel's well-known jacket.
Chanel's first film "Reincarnation" starring Pharrell Williams and Cara Delevingne was released Tuesday for the company's Métiers d'Art collection catwalk presentation, Glamour Magazine reported.
Director Karl Lagerfeld paired Williams with Delevingne in the flick, which was inspired from the history of Chanel's iconic jacket, according to Vogue. The film presented an episode, which Lagerfeld reckoned to influence Gabrielle Chanel in popularizing the famed jacket.
In the short movie, Mrs. Chanel, who was depicted by Geraldine Chaplin, is in the suburbs of Salzburg spending her holidays in the year 1945. She meets Williams' character, a young man working as a lift-boy in the hotel. Williams is wearing a jacket which Gabrielle noticed with delight. The scene is followed by a dream sequence where the paintings of Franz Joseph I, the Emperor of Austria, and Empress Elisabeth "Sisi" comes to life. The two royal paintings were painted to appear as Williams and Delevingne.
The seven-minute film was made as a teaser for Chanel's Métiers d'Art collection runway. The film also featured Williams' composition "CC the World," which Williams and Delevingne sang together as they performed a moonlit waltz. Lagerfeld sent Williams "all kinds of Viennese music" to help the singer in creating the song, Glamour Magazine reported. The director mentioned how William was easy to work with and delivered the work professionally.
On the other hand, "Reincarnation" is Delevingne's first Hollywood film and she expressed her interest in singing for the movie. Delevingne portrayed an Austrian barmaid who was sneaking beer to the receptionist in the film.
The English actress was also excited to work with the "Happy" singer. Delevingne said that she was so happy that she might have "screamed down the phone" at Williams.
The cast also included Lady Amanda Harlech, who made an appearance in Lagerfeld's last pre-collection film "Private View," models Baptiste Giabiconi and Heidi Mount, and 6-year-old Hudson Kroening, who also made his comeback to the Chanel catwalk at the Métiers d'art show.
