Luke Bryan Cancels CMT Appearance Amid Death of Family Member

Luke Bryan has cancelled his CMT appearance following the death of his brother-in-law, Daily Herald has learned.

The 38-year-old country singer-songwriter has decided to bow out from his confirmed appearance at the CMT Artist of the Year special.

Bryan's rep has already confirmed to the media that he is cancelling his appearance because his brother-in-law Ben Lee Cheshire passed away on Saturday at the age of 46.

The "That's My Kind of Night" hit maker has opted to stay with his family as of late instead of performing at the popular show that donors top country artists annually.

According to ABC News, Cheshire was the husband of Luke Bryan's sister, Kelly, who died at the age of 39 in 2007.

The funeral for Cheshire, who is survived by his three teenaged kids, was held Tuesday and Bryan co-officiated.

This is the third death in Bryan's family in the recent years. His only brother also passed away after getting into a tragic car crash.

The "Roller Coaster" singer gushed last year amid the death of his brother, "You never truly... move beyond it."

"My only older siblings... gone from the world, in a flash in two, two different, crazy, tragic manners, that... we'll never know, and never understand," he continued. "You can lean on friends and family through it... and you can get back life."

"With me, life is precious and life is short, I have a beautiful family and a bunch of overly passionate people working their butts off to make all this happen," Bryan went on. "I'm just blessed on so many levels and I want people to feed off that positiveness of just how blessed I am."

Luke Bryan's cancellation of his CMT appearance comes after it was already revealed that he will be honored at the event, along with Miranda Lambert, Jason Aldean, Florida Georgia Line and Keith Urban.

CMT spokeswoman Cindy Finke said that a special performance will be given to honour Bryan despite his absence, according to People.

"We are going to honor Luke in absentia and will recognize him in only the best way we know how - out of respect for him and his family," Finke said.
