'The Voice' 2014 Top 8 Performances Recap: Luke Wade, Ryan Sill Fail to Impress Judges

With three contestants going home, "The Voice" top 8 performers sang their hearts out, giving their best to stay in the competition.

The Top 8 contenders placed the judges in a tough decision with their performances Monday night, People reported.

The pressure was high between the four teams as their singers strive to be in the top 5, hoping their names wouldn't be mentioned in Tuesday's elimination.

First off, Damien of Team Adam Levine gave an emotional rendition of Adele's "Someone Like You." Adam even commented that Damien should be the only singer on the show who should sing Adele because of how he delivers his emotions in his performances. Blake Shelton also complimented Damien's "passion and soul" and how they perfectly went along with tonight's song.

Levine was also proud with Chris Jamison's execution of Marvin Gaye's "Sexual Healing," stating that the performer just "crushed" the entire audience. Pharrell Williams was also in awe with Jamison.

Matt McAndrew, who is also from Levine's team captured the heart of the "Moves Like Jagger" singer as he sang "The Blower's Daughter" of Damien Rice. Levine was so touched, he started reflecting about love.

"Love is this crazy thing," Levine said. "It's beautiful and blissful and happy and wonderful. It's also brutal and painful and excruciating at times. When you can embody that and when you can exude that as an artist, and you can show people that, that to me is the most valuable thing."

On the other hand, Gwen Stefani seemed to pick the wrong song to showcase her bet Ryan Sill. Levine and Shelton hinted that Sill might join the bottom three after he sang Journey's "Open Arms." Still, his coach Stefani was proud of him.

Despite having one of her contenders failing to please the other judges, Stefani still has Taylor John Williams to bet on. Williams sang Lorde's "Royals" with his own style, which was welcomed with delight.

"You always make every performance your own," Shelton told Williams. "You're 150 percent pure artist." Even the "Happy" singer considered him as a "super-soulful hippie."

Meanwhile, Shelton's only contender Craig Wayne Boyd didn't give in to the pressure as he sang the Eagles' "Take it Easy." The other judges was pleased with his "irreverence" in the performance, according to New Jersey.com.

Team Pharrell wasn't backing down as well and the only girl in the top 8 DaNica Shirey proved herself deserving with her execution of Heart's "These Dreams." At the end of her performance, Pharrell expressed his gratitude that Shirey was on his team.

Finally, Luke Wade of Team Pharrell didn't seem to impress the judges with his rendition of Simply Red's "Holding Back the Years."

"I want you to stop thinking," Adam told Wade after the performance. "When you pour it out and you're not aware of what's happening and it's out-of-body, that's my favorite version of Luke Wade."

The elimination round Tuesday at 8 p.m. ET would be the final judgement of the eight contestants, where five of them proceed to their next performances and the other three pack their bags to leave.
