Roberto Gómez Bolaños has died and this time it is not a death hoax. The legendary Mexican comedian reportedly passed away on Black Friday at the age of 85.
Roberto Gómez Bolaños' death happend in his Cancun, Mexico home, where he had been staying for several years now since he found out that he had health problems.
Notorious site Media Mass, which is known for creating satirical content specially celebrity death hoaxes, even confirmed Bolaños' passing as not a hoax.
"Roberto Gómez Bolaños' death in Cancún on Friday November 28, 2014 has now been confirmed: Chespirito died at 85," Media Mass wrote as an update to its report earlier this year that questioned whether the comedian-screenwriter also known as Chespirito was still alive.
Nevertheless, this time Roberto Gómez Bolaños's death is not a hoax, as many mainstream sites also confirmed the unfortunate news.
Respected journalist Lolita Ayala was the first one to confirm the passing of the "El Chavo del Ocho" star.
Last April, news emerged that Bolaños's health was already deteriorating. Around that time, an insider even gushed to Mexican media that doctors were hoping for a full recovery, Los Angeles Times has learned.
"Mr. Roberto is very ill but stable, the doctors say, who have already informed the family that there is no hope of recovery and to brace themselves for the worst," the insider said.
Bolaños' son, Roberto Gomez Fernandez also confirmed the news that time and even revealed that his father already lost his mobility.
"My father is fine but with a greater difficulty in moving," he said at the time.
After Roberto Gómez Bolaños' death has been confirmed, many expressed their condolences to the family he left behind: his wife, Florinda Meza and his six children from a previous marriage, reports CNN.
"Mexico has lost an icon whose work has transcended generations and borders," wrote Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto on Twitter.
