Black Friday Sales 2014 turned out to be a huge mess in some retailers when customers started to fight over certain items during the annual shopping tradition.
Customers of the Black Friday sales this 2014 may have been a little less than what we had last year, but that didn't stop chaos to strike in some retailers amid what's supposed to be the beginning of the Christmas shopping season.
When stores opened their doors at 6 p.m., many consumers rushed in to get the best deals out of a wide range of products. People lining up for hours just to get a bargain out of goods isn't something new when it's Black Friday. And the same can be said of brawls in between customers who want the same thing.
As per police reports, there have been a couple of brawls at Walmarts in Houston, Texas and Michigan City, Indiana amid the Black Friday sales 2014, reports Q13Fox.
In the Houston branch, a footage on the shopping madness showed customers literally diving protectively towards discounted Samsung flatscreen TVs.
Some shoppers even clawed at each other just so they can secure their flatscreen TVs this all to themselves amid the Black Friday sales 2014. Fortunately, police officers came to contain the violence that was starting to brew.
On the other hand, at the Michigan City branch, a couple wearing Chicago Bears jerseys reportedly tried to take away another shopper's Sony speakers. The pair literally grabbed the set of speakers out of the other shopper's hands while hurling expletives towards the poor man.
In Indianapolis, about 150 miles south, police said they had to kick out a man from a city mall for starting a brawl in a parking lot. The man who was described as "too rowdy" by officers even attacked the officers who attempted to break up the fight, New York Daily News has learned.
What's worse is that when the girlfriend of the man arrived, she too joined the beatdown, and was hence arrested alongside her boyfriend.
In Los Angeles, another brawl broke amid the Black Friday sales 2014 when shoppers had a heated argument over a discounted Barbie doll. The incident reportedly took place just a couple of minutes after the Walmart doors were opened at 6 p.m.
In southern California, at least three arrests were made by authorities when three women assaulted two women, according to KTLA.
The female victims had facial lacerations after the brawl and one of them was even rushed to a local medical centre for her injuries, which were later on clarified to be non-life-threatening.
Details on what started the fight among five women amid the Black Friday sales this 2014 were not immediately available.
Meanwhile, the chaotic scenario over bargains, discounts and special promos was not only present in the U.S.
Across Britain, authorities also noted that some stores were comparable to a battlefield when consumers argued and fought each other just to secure the best bargains.
In Wembley, one incident reported was about a woman who clung frantically to a 40-inch Polaroid television while a group of teens attempted to wrestle her and take away the discounted appliance.
Shoppers told reporters that bargain-hunters during the Black Friday sales 2014 behaved "like animals" and that the shopping atmosphere was pretty similar to "a war zone."
In Manchester, a Tesco store was closed about 36 minutes after it opened because of a massive brawl among customers. Arrests were made by officers who noted that it was one of the worst scenes of violence in the biggest shopping day of the year, reports Daily Mail.
Tesco branches in Edmonton, Willesden and Surrey Quays in London also reported chaos as shoppers pushed, punched and shouted at each other in their attempt to make the most out of the Black Friday sales this 2014.
