Eric Berry Injury: Kansas City Chiefs Safety Has Lymphoma? Berry Has Been Complaining Of Persistent Chest Discomfort

Eric Berry injury of late is more than a mere injury. Team officials believe that the Kansas City Chiefs safety, Berry, has a form of cancer.

Berry has now been placed on the season-ending non-football illness list. He will have to undergo further diagnostics at the Emory University Hospital, which is located in Atlanta, in order to complete the diagnosis.

Rick Burkholder, the trainer of the Chiefs, said during a news conference, "At this point in time, we don't have a definitive diagnosis. But, the leading consideration for what he has right now is lymphoma."

Burkholder then added, "We first were alerted to something on Thursday night. It's now Monday. We still don't have a definitive answer. That's okay. We'll get to the experts and we'll get the answer. We'll get a treatment program and we'll go from there."

He mentioned that Eric Berry injury was first complaining of chest discomfort after the team's loss to the Oakland Raiders on Thursday night. He was immediately examined by a physician then and returned to Kansas City with the rest of the team.

Surprisingly, he was still experiencing discomfort on the same area by Friday, when he reported to the practice facility of the team so that he could have his regular day-after-game treatment. Burkholder revealed, "It just didn't quite add up to an orthopedic injury."

Eric Berry injury was immediately given an x-ray, which gave negative results. However, subsequent testing, which included an MRI, showed indications of a mass inside his chest. Burkholder stated that the entire team had to undergo a physical examination back in June, including a standard x-ray and blood work.

"Everything checked out then," he revealed. "I've obviously been with him a lot this season, and he didn't complain about anything until the Oakland ballgame."

The 25-year-old Berry then addressed his team before leaving for Atlanta through a statement. "I am truly thankful for all the support from family, friends, coaches, teammates, and the entire Chiefs kingdom," he said. "At first, I was in shock with the diagnosis on Saturday and did not even want to miss a game. But, I understand that, right now, I have to concentrate on a new opponent."
