Passengers Push Plane To Gate - At a Russian airport, it took a few passengers to get their plane to take flight. In a literal sense, all the plane needed was a push after getting stuck in ice. Dozens of passengers, rather than sitting on the side, had aided in manoeuvring their stuck plane through pure force.
At the Russian town, Igarka, which is 100 miles north of the Arctic Circle, passengers pushed plane to gate. This incident occurred when their aircraft remained solitary due to it being stuck in ice. The weather, which had fallen to -44 degrees Celsius, relatively aided in the plane getting completely frozen in place.
Reports claim 74 passengers pushed plane to gate. A video recording of the said incident has already gone viral on YouTube. The plane being pushed was reportedly a Tupolev-134 jet. A statement about the incident has already been released by the West Siberia Transportation Prosecutor.
"Passengers got off the plane and began to push it on the taxiway," says the statement released by the New York Times, adding that the prosecutors of the incident "will assess the legality of the actions of all those involved."
While the action of the passengers pushing plane to gate was in an effort to head out of Russia, a spokeswoman of the transport prosecutor named Oksana A. Gorbunova claimed it was "more like a joke." Netizens have also spoke up on the actions of the passengers claiming their pushing had in no way affected the engine of the plane or for it to jumpstart.
"Unlike a car, you can't push an airplane to help start the engines - the engines are not connected to the wheels. You can help spin a propeller, but this was a jet, so there is no propeller to help turn," comments Bill on the video of passengers push plane to gate in a report by Towerload.
