Suicide bombers attack Nigeria's northeastern city of Maiduguri on Tuesday, killing more than 40 people.
According to the latest news, two women allegedly set off the explosives in the city. Although authorities did not name any person or group believed to be responsible of the attack, many fingers are pointing to the militant group, Boko Haram as the one who initiated the massive killing. It can be recalled that in the previous months, the Islamic militants have already seized a larger part of the country while more than a thousand deaths were recorded.
The notorious group has gained the world's attention after they kidnapped more than 200 girls from Chibok who are still in their custody. They even denied the fact that they are considering any negotiations to free the girls. Boko Haram even allegedly tries to spread their influence as they recruit for more people even those who are in the young age as suicide bombers to attack parts of Nigeria.
In the recent report regarding the tragic attack, two girls who were about in their teen years who were reportedly covered as they dressed themselves in full hijabs enters the crowded part of the market. In the said location, the first girl detonates the explosives and three victims were reportedly killed.
The number of casualties even increased when the second suicide bomber set off her explosive device just in time when a number of people came in and attempted to rescue the injured individuals in the Nigeria market. The second blast is said to have killed about 30 more individuals.
The recent incident is actually not the first time to happen in the country. Months ago, the militant group also launched a massive attack when they set off explosive devices implanted in a car way back in July. Female suicide bombers are also being used by the group in launching their attacks in Nigeria. In June four other women reportedly attack one school in Kano city.
