Kurt Cobain's daughter and only child Francs Bean Cobain is up for producing a documentary on his late father's personal life and work as an artist.
ABC has learned that a new documentary featuring the life of the late Nirvana singer is in the works and is slated for a 2015 release.
For the first time ever since the rock star's death, Kurt Cobain's daughter, Frances Bean, is involved in making the documentary, which is also the first one made with the support and participation of Kurt's family.
Frances Bean is producing the project, currently titled "Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck," that is going to focus more on the rock icon's involvement in home movies, journals, artwork, photography, family archives, demos and unreleased music.
The title of the "fully authorised" documentary was reportedly taken from one of Cobain's mixtape in the late '80s.
The project is directed by Brett Morgan, who was nominated as best filmmaker in the Oscar Awards for his 1999 documentary on boxing, "On the Ropes," reports PitchFork.
"I started work on this project eight years ago. Like most people, when I started, I figured there would be limited amounts of fresh material to unearth.," Morgen said in a statement. "However, once I stepped into Kurt's archive, I discovered over 200 hours of unreleased music and audio, a vast array of art projects (oil paintings, sculptures), countless hours of never-before-seen home movies, and over 4000 pages of writings that together help paint an intimate portrait of an artist who rarely revealed himself to the media."
Universal Pictures International Entertainment Content Group is producing the film while Kurt's daughter is named as the executive producer, alongside Larry Mestel and David Byrnes.
Kurt Cobain's daughter was only two years old when the singer committed suicide at the young age of 27 in 1994.
Despite dying young, he and his band is considered as one of the rock icons.
Nirvana's music mainly touched social alienation as a theme, which eventually led them to become a cornerstone of Generation X in the '90s.
Just early this year, Cobain's band was inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Frances Bean Cobain is Kurt Cobain's daughter to actress and Hole frontwoman Courtney Love, according to Billboard. She is a visual artist.
