Rachel McAdams married has just been confirmed for the lead role for the second season of highly watched series, "True Detective." She will be playing the role of a no-nonsense detective named, Ani Bezzerides, in the hit HBO crime drama.
McAdams has been quite known for her appearance in "Mean Girls" and "The Notebook," but her participation in the upcoming premiere of the show's second season will be showcasing a whole new side of her as a versatile actress.
Bezzerides has a troubled past, which will eventually compel her to resort to gambling and drinking. Soon enough, her vices become a problem as they start to impede her from functioning normally. This is a huge part of what the upcoming season is about. Her "uncompromising ethics put her at odds with the system she serves."
Rachel McAdams married was among the names of huge female celebrities who have been vying for this important TV series role. The Canadian actress was negotiating with the show runner of "True Detective" alongside Rosario Dawson, Jessica Biel, Elisabeth Moss, and Jessica Chastain.
Still, despite all those popular names, the 36-year-old "Mean Girls" star had actually been a favorite for the female lead. However, her prior commitment to "Spotlight," which is about a Catholic Church sex scandal, somehow prevented her from fully saying "Yes" to Nic Pizzolatto's TV show. She could have easily committed to "True Detective" if it was not for the clash in schedule.
Apart from Rachel McAdams, Taylor Kitsch and Colin Farrell will also be on board as police officers Paul Woodrugh and Ray Velcoro, respectively. Vince Vaughn will also be featured in the show as the criminal entrepreneur, Frank Semyon.
Other cast members include, Michael Irby, Leven Rambin, Lolita Davidovich, Kelly Reilly, James Frain, and Christian Campbell.
The second season of "True Detective" is already in its production stages, which actually "revolves around three police officers and a career criminal who navigate a web of conspiracy in the aftermath of a murder."
