Eastern provinces of Thailand will be taking part in celebrations of natural produce during the annual Thai Fruit Festival, which takes place in May and June 2012.
Fruit orchards in areas such as Chanthaburi, Rayong and Trat will be throwing open their gates to visitors during the festival in order to sample delicious and exotic fruits just as they are ripening and becoming ready to harvest.
Thailand is home to a wide array of tasty fruits, from indigenous species of bananas, durians, mangos, oranges and pomelos to imported varieties of lychee, mangosteen, rambutan, coconut, watermelon, guava and much, much more.
During the Fruit Festival, tourists will be able to buy the very best produce at bargain prices, while various events will also be held in celebration, such as the colourful Fruit Festival Parades.
Competitions will be held among growers to see whose products are the best, while fruit-eating contests and food processing demonstrations will also take place.
Other attractions include beauty pageants, cultural performances and folk entertainment, adding to the overall festive ambience.
AsiaRooms.com offers a huge selection of Thailand hotels for food connoisseurs, such as the Ramada Resort Khao Lak.
