Pacquiao Algieri fight card showed Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao doing everything that he possible could in order to knock out Chris Algieri. Although Algieri managed to last the whole 12 rounds of the match, Pacquiao was able to keep his welterweight world title.
Pacquiao, who is the only one in boxing who is an eight-division title holder, was skilled enough to score six knock downs. Taking a look at the match and its highlights, he virtually dominated every minute of it, winning a lopsided unanimous decision in front of a sold-out audience of 13,201 on Venetian Macao's Cotai Arena in Macau on Sunday.
Now, with Algieri out of the picture due to the results of the recent Pacquiao Algieri fight card, the only question that remains regarding Pacman's legendary career is whether or not he will ever get Floyd Mayweather, Jr. to say 'Yes' to a fight. Mayweather, Jr. is a fellow welterweight champion and pound-for-pound king, but he has been famously reluctant to pursue a match against the Filipino boxing champion.
"The people deserve that fight. The fans deserve that fight," Pacquiao stated at the post-fight news conference. "It's time to make that fight happen. It's been a long time. I want that fight. They're always denying the fight. I think the fight has to happen."
Before the Pacquiao Algieri fight card, many were skeptical about whether or not Pacman still possessed his power inside the ring, especially after he had some crushing knock outs as he moved up the ladder. Plus, he had not been able to score one in eight consecutive matches since a 12th round knockout of Miguel Cotto in November of 2009, winning his first welterweight title.
Pacquiao has been having a knock out drought despite Hall of Fame trainer, Freddie Roach, claiming that Pacman could knock his opponent out in the first round of the Pacquiao Algieri fight card.
