FSU Shooting Team: School Athletics Director Says All Events Will Be Played Amid Tragic Shooting Incident In Campus (REPORT + RAW FOOTAGE)

FSU Shooting Team - Florida State University's Athletics Director Stan Wilcox has apparently announced that amid the tragic shooting incident that took place within the school premises, all athletics events will still be played this weekend, USA Today has learned.

"We are deeply saddened by the early morning events on campus," Wilcox said in a statement issued amid the FSHU shooting.

"The entire Florida State family and surrounding community are affected," Wilcox added. "Our university administration has increased security measures and is providing a strong law enforcement presence on and around campus. We have been assured there is no further threat."

As per Wilcox's statement, the school board is expecting that these events will aid the unification of not only the students of the school but the entire community as a whole.

"Following tragic times like we experienced today, athletic events can help in unifying both the student body and community," Wilcox quipped. "That is our hope in moving forward with these events. Our thoughts and prayers are with all those directly affected by this tragedy."

Because of the school administration's decision, the Saturday game at 3:30 p.m. EST where the Florida State football team will be hosting Boston College is going to be carried out despite the FSU shooting that left an alumnus dead.

The FSU shooting on Thursday morning happened when a gunman opened fire inside the school's library and he managed to injure at least three people.

Because he was armed and was intoxicated by the shooting spree, responding police had resorted to kill the gunman, who was later on identified as an alumnus of the school.

Authorities said the shooter named Myron May, 31, had a semi-automatic handgun and extra ammunition in his pockets, reports Reuters.

Mr. May was in a state of crisis," Tallahassee Police Chief Michael DeLeo said, noting that they found journals and videos made by the gunman where he expressed his anxiety and fears that government agencies are targeting him.

Police also found out that May has recently quit his job and called it quits with his girlfriend after reporting that he can hear voices and experienced contestant fear of being watched.

The three victims of the FSU shooting incident were two students and an employee. Hundreds of students were also staying at the school's library at the time since everyone was busy studying for exams.

Following the incident, classes were canceled but the campus remained open the entire Thursday through.

"Another campus shooting. Yet we still haven't started even a dialogue on keeping guns from criminals and the mentally ill," Democratic U.S. Senator Bill nelson of Florida tweeted following the FSU shooting.
