Mickey Rourke returns to boxing despite being already 62 years old. He will be inside the ring with a professional boxer from the United States in Moscow this month.
"Boxing is a serious part of my life. It taught me respect and determination, patience and concentration," Rourke has been quoted by his promoters saying. "I always dreamed of fighting a match in Russia."
Rourke has been scheduled to fight the 29-year-old Elliot Seymour November 28th. They will be fighting before the match between Ruslan Provodnikov of Russia and Jose Luis Castillo of Mexico.
Younger fans might have heard of Mickey Rourke through his appearance and participation in the "Expendables" franchise. However, he was actually an amateur boxer before his career in Hollywood took off. He also became a sex symbol during his younger years, as evidenced by one of his films, "9 ½ Weeks."
Mickey Rourke returns to boxing back in 1990s as a professional fighter for only eight matches. Sadly, he had to stop since the matches caused severe damages to his face, some of which compelled him to undergo facial surgery.
