D.C. Museum Exhibit: "Titanic: 100 Year Obsession"

National Geographic Museum, located in Washington, D.C., will open its "Titanic: 100 Year Obsession" exhibit from March 29 to July 8.

The exhibit will focus on the story behind Robert Ballard and James Cameron's relationship with the Titanic. Ballard discovered the sunken remains of the great ship in 1985. National Geographic was the first to show his photographs to the world. Cameron directed the famed 1997 blockbuster that held the place of highest-grossing film in history until recently when his later work, Avatar, made it the runner-up.

Cameron, when seeking inspiration, visited the submersed vessel for 33 times. The exhibition will display props and backdrops from the movie and explore the details as to how the sea-faring giant was born.
