A comet 67P conspiracy theory is suggesting the alarming idea that alien life-forms are currently spying on human beings. But is there really truth in this theory? And where did it come from?
So apparently, the new comet 67P conspiracy theory surfaced after a European Space Agency insider allegedly disclosed an email sent to Scott Waring of UFOSightingsDaily back in September that "Comet 67P is not a comet" but a spaceship managed by aliens.
A copy of the email is found below:
"Some 20 years ago, the NASA space agency began detecting radio bursts from an unknown origin out in space. It would later be known that these bursts had likely come from the direction of the now named comet67P. Once the technology progressed, it was confirmed that not only were these signals coming directly from the comet itself but that the comet had seemed to change trajectory at will, which to any scientist is an obvious impossibility for any rock confined to the physics of space."
"It was at this time that the NASA space agency decided to plan out a mission to send a military backed reconnaissance mission to the object in hopes of discovering its true nature. Because of its nature and secrecy, the American space agency made a deal with European government insiders to publicly tout the mission as a search to simply get a close up of one of the millions of comets flying through space. It was the perfect cover and allowed the governments to go about the mission off the ground without the need to hide its launch."
So basically, the insider is claiming that EPA has successfully landed a small spacecraft on Comet 67P and that they found out that the comet isn't really a comet but a special vessel that has a transmitting tower and other artificial structures on its surface, reports TIME.
There was even a claim that clicking oscillations could be heard from the object's magnetic field, which is below the range of the human ear.
The said mission by the EPA was reportedly a response to an alien radio greeting 20 years ago.
Now because of the controversial claim of the email, conspiracy theorists agreed to uncover the truth behind Rosetta's mission, in an attempt to clarify that the mission is baseless and "stupid," as per a Gizmodo report.
However, many are now debunking the Comet 67P conspiracy theory. Jeffrey Kluger of TIME even opines that conspiracy theories are "often racist, foster cynicism and erode the collective intellect of any culture."
Moreover, Kluger denounces how people take advantage of others by producing theories such as the Comet 67P conspiracy theory and even went as far as calling them "plotters weaving a vast web of lies."
Nevertheless, more and more people are fueling the Comet 67P conspiracy theory such as ex-naval electronics warfare technician Carl Backman, who wrote on BPEarthWatch: "Definitely not a natural signal, there is intelligent based stuff going on here."
UFO expert Nigel Watson, author of Haynes UFO Investigation Manual, even quipped to Mail Online that "the stories and rumors surrounding Comet 67P reflect the growing belief that aliens from outer space have, since the distant past, been making regular visits to our neck of the galaxy."
"The obsession with turning any unusual rock photographed on Mars into an animal or artifact, and viewing any speck of light or object captured by spacecraft cameras as alien spaceships is part of our need to believe that we are not alone," Watson added.
On the other hand, there are scientists who have worked on disproving the claim of the Comet 67P conspiracy theory by pointing out that the sound from the outer space body is simply due to the unique activity of comets like releasing neutral particles into space, and that the particles become electrically charged due to ionization, according to Daily Mail.
